Resetting Two-Factor Authentication for users
Depending on the data center A physical location in which a company stores and operates its IT hardware infrastructure, including servers, routers, firewalls, and databases. Your Absolute account data resides within one of Absolute's data centers. Each data center is associated with a unique URL (e.g. cc.absolute.com, cc.us.absolute.com, etc.), which you use when you log in to your account. your Absolute account resides in, this feature may not be available to you.
If Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) is enabled for your account, you may, from time to time, need to reset 2FA for a user. A reset is required if a user deletes their Absolute user account from the Google Authenticator app, uninstalls the app, loses their mobile device, or purchases a new one. In all of these scenarios, the user can't log in to the Secure Endpoint Console because they can't generate verification codes. Resetting 2FA allows the user to reconfigure the Google Authenticator app on their device.
To reset 2FA for a user:
- Log in to the Secure Endpoint Console as a user with Manage permissions for Authentication and Users.
- Go to the Users area.
- Search for and select the user that you want to reset 2FA for.
- Click Actions > Reset 2FA.

On the confirmation message, click Reset and click OK.
2FA is reset, and a Two-Factor authentication reset event is logged to Event History.
An email is sent to the user instructing them that Two-Factor Authentication for their Absolute user account is reset. The next time they log in, they'll be directed to the Enable Two-Factor Authentication page to reconfigure the Google Authenticator app on their device.
